What makes a Home?

What makes a Home?

When you are in the market to buy or sell a home, there are a few pointers or tips that a realtor will give regardless of what side of the transaction you are on.

As a buyer you are told to look at the flow of the house; try to picture yourself there.

As a seller you are told to make it neutral and clean. Remove aspects of your personality so that the buyer can picture themselves there.

Research has proven both points of advice are great when making a real estate transaction, but let’s talk about what makes a house a home.

The age old adage “home is where the heart is” is where we will begin. The sentiment states that where there is love, you will find home.  But love of what? Is it family, a town, and the amenities that are in the area? Is it the decorations? I would assert that it is all of the above.

Home is not just the brick (or vinyl) and mortar walls that surround you; but all of the actions, possessions, interactions, and emotions that transpire within. It is the memories of the first Christmas, the story behind how you bought the crazy leg lamp, or the mirror you had to have but had to maneuver finances around in order to purchase. It is even the excitement of being in your first place knowing it is yours to decorate as you wish, invite whom you want, or even walk around naked in your living room, just because you can.

In summary, home is what YOU make it. It becomes a part of your legacy, your sanctuary; your favorite hangout spot. That is what our homes have become to us at Success Power Brokers. That’s why we strive to incorporate what life in the Hudson Valley is like in our communications with you.

When we feature a listing, we talk about what is going on in the town, the new restaurant, or even about the exhibit at a local art gallery. We do this because we know home is more than just four walls and we want to equip you with as much information as we can so that YOU can choose which area in the Valley best fits your personality and needs, whether country beauty or trendy waterfront café’s.  Welcome to the Hudson Valley!
